The Cold War

Hi, the Cold War is the matter that we are dealing with during the last week with the students of 4º ESO. We have seen how the world was divided into two different views of the life, the comunism and the capitalism. Spain is included, obviously in the second group! We love to buy in Zara, to eat in McDonald's and to go out to enjoy the night!!!

Mary's announcement!

Dear mates, I would'nt dare to compare myself with her manificient Royal Majesty, but following the trend recently created by Queen Elizabeth, I will make an announcent today in our English breakfast! It's not important for the country, but it's very important for me :)) See you!!

Buckingham¿s news

Good morning everybody! Today Buckingham palace is gonna make a big announcement but nobody knows what it could be. I think that we can try to guess it in our english workgroup today, it can be a funny topic considering the english royal family,,,

C U very soon!!

Fernando Alonso and Snailman...

Hi everyone!!

In our last meeting, as Andrés has previously said, we were talking about pets (among other different and interesting topics) and Eladio told us some experiences with his children's pets: a couple of snails that they brought from school.

One day, Eladio's wife forgot to shut the lid of the shoe box they use as home for the molluscs, and he found one the snails crawling across the ceiling. I advised him to be very careful to not be bitten by this snail or he could become a famous superhero: Snailman :-P.

On the other hand, one asked him if any of the two snails were named Fernando Alonso :-P. Eladio's answer was a negative one, but after what is happening this year in F1 (especially after today's Russian Grand Prix), I strongly consider his children should completely rethink their pets' nicknames ^_^.

See you soon in our next talk!! :-D

From body pains to lovely pets

Very interesting our recent conversation session this week. It¿s really amazing how we can start by talking about the different sufferings we might feel practising any sport, and we end up talking about... pets! I laughed a lot hearing Eladio talking about the snails their children brought home (their school pets) and I also could put myself in Mary¿s shoes about our experiences with animal when we are younger. So happy to have the chance to share these moments with you!

Keep calm...and speak English!

In our last talk, we dealt with a topic that may be specially useful for us now that the end of the course is approaching: relaxation techniques and how to overcome fears and phobias. We tackled topics such as phobias to the dentist, to going on lifts...and we ended up learning about the difference between "gigs" and "geeks". As Francis has commented, these topics may not have anything to do with one another, but we had so much fun. So now students and exams may start getting us on our nerves, my advice is.. keel calm and speak English! See you my friends!

Mixing up two completely different things...

Hi everyone.

This time, in our weekly conversation meeting, I started talking about how I almost suffered an accident when I was driving my car at 120 km/h to Córdoba (I could see through my rearview mirror how a big plastic carboy fell off a lorry that I have just overtaken two seconds ago, so I was incredibly lucky to escape unscathed) and we finished bantering about the differences and similarities among freaks, geeks and nerds. That is, we mixed up two completely different things, or as we say in Spanish: mezclamos la velocidad con el tocino.

That's the kind of amazing things that happen when you banter with the colleagues and practise English in a relaxed and educational way :-D.

The next week more ;-). See you all soon!!

Holiday plans for Easter

Very interesting our conversation today about our Easter plans. We have shared personal experiences, our favourite destinations, and I really enjoyed when Mari explaned us about the different brotherhoods in Seville's. Holy Week.  And Javi's comments were so useful too! Looking forward for neta session!

Hello,I am a Professor of health and I like to talk English breakfast.

Discussion about education: problems and possible solutions

I think our session yestarday was very interesting, regarding we thought that our best way to protest about the problems in our educational sector nowadays could be working intensively in a Strike day, talking about the problems in our area and how could them be solved. It was so positive being able to share ideas, opinions, benefits and drawbaks of actions, and so on.
As bilingual teachers, I think we all agree that we need more support from the Administration. They took away the 2 hours per week that we had to elaborate proper materials to our classes, to coordinate with the English teachers and with other departments, and to help our students to get to their best. Bilingualism requires a lot of effort, and Educative Administration has to make its part too, not only teachers and students.
